Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient for 1-Phenylethylbenzene was determined according to OECD Guideline 121 to be 4316 and the Log Koc was determined to be 3.64.

Log Koc values for members of the diphenylmethane category were also calculated by a reliable QSAR model.

1,1 -DPE is a slightly water soluble, non-polar organic substance.

As a very hydrophobic substance, supported by its measured Kow of 4.48, it is expected that 1,1 -DPE would strongly adsorb to organic matter in soil to an appreciable extent.

This is confirmed by the measured log Koc value of 3.64.

Calculated values for adsorption coefficient log Koc of the other members of the diphenylmethane category range from 4.2 to 4.9 the fact of which again clearly indicates the very close similarity of all of its members.

For risk assessment purposes the measured log Koc value of 3.64 is used.. No further testing is required.
