Additional information

Calcium dihydrate is easily soluble in water (1.73 g/L). In aqueous solution calcium dihydroxide readiliy reacts with HCO3-, precipitating to calcium carbonate. This reaction is strongly dependent on pH. CaCO3 (lime) is fairly insoluble.

There is no reliable data available on this test substance, however the analogue Calcium chloride was assessed extensively within the OECD HPV programme (OECD SIDS 2002). All the data compiled on the acute and chronic toxicity for Calcium chloride were greater than 100 mg/L.

Calcium dihydroxyde is a base and may lead to pH-changes in the aquatic environment.
