Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

11% biodegradation was observed in the 28 day OECD 301F study, so EC 202-228-8 is not readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The test was conducted in accordance with guideline OECD 301F. The results for EC 202-228-8 show that the test material at a concentration of 20 mg/L attained a maximum mean level of biodegradation (based on the BOD:ThOD ratio) of 11%. Less than 60% degradation was achieved within the 10-day window, so EC 202-228-8 cannot be classified as readily biodegradable. This lack of biodegradation can be in part put down to the fact the EC 202-228-8 is inhibitory to microorganisms as outlined in the OECD 209 study (IUCLID section 6.1.7), which showed the NOEC for inhibition to microorganisms to be <10 mg/L.
