Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Read across data are available for DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate, a precursor of alpha -Tocopherol. The respiration rate of microorganisms in presence of DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate was tested by a oxygen consumption test according to ROBRA focusing on the respiration of Pseudomonas putida. After 30 minutes an EC10 > 10000 mg/l was determined (BASF AG, 1991).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
10 000 mg/L

Additional information

Two bacteria tests for read across are available for the group of tocopherols and tocopheryl acetates:

One test was performed with DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate, a precursor of the substance.

In another test changes in the respiration rate of activated sludge as induced by DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate were studied in a test performed in compliance with ISO 8192. An EC20 > 927 mg/l was determined after an inoculation time of 30 minutes.

The study with Pseudomonas putida (BASF AG, 1991) is selected as key study.
