Additional information

The acute toxicity of EEA-NH4 to fish was determined in a GLP-compliant study according to OECD guideline 203 (Kurume Laboratory, 2006b).

The study was set up as a semi-static limit test in which 10 fish (Oryzias latipes; 2 replicates of 5 animals) were exposed for 96 hours to 100 mg/L EEA-NH4 or a dilution water control (dechlorinated tap water). Fatality and visible abnormality were observed at 3, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after the start of the test. Renewal of the test solution took place after 48 hours. The concentrations of test substance were analysed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at the start of exposure, before renewal, after renewal and at the end of exposure. Throughout the entirety of the test the concentration of test item averaged 102% (of the nominal concentration).

No mortality or abnormal response was observed in fish exposed to 100 mg/L EEA-NH4. Based on these findings, the LC50 was determined to be >100 mg/L.
