- Details on results:
- The cumulative mortality of Dania rerio observed for the range-finding and definitive tests, at each day, are shown on tables 3 and 4, respectively.
No sublethal effects on fish were observed in all the tested concentrations.
The surviving larvae showed normal appearance and behavior during the definitive test.
The survival rate of eggs and larvae of the control was 100%, demonstrating the validity of the results (survival should be at least 70 and 75%, respectively) (Table 9).
The humid weight and size of exposed surviving larvae at concentrations ranged from 46.55 to
47.75 mg and 11.0 to 11.7 mm, respectively (Table 12). The weight and size of the larvae of each replicate were recorded and are shown on tables 10 and 11. The test substance in concentrations had no significant effect on weight and size of the larvae.
The no observed effect concentration (NOEC) of SODIUM SULFIDE SOLUTION over the survival and growth of fish larvae was 1.3 mg.L•1 and the lowest observed effect concentration (LOEC) was 2.5 mg.L-1 in 33 days exposure period.
Water chemical parameters measured in the dilution water and in the test solutions are show on tables 13 and 14, respectively.
The 168-hour LCso value for the reference substance potassium dichromate was 145.20 mg.L-1 (confidence limits at 95% = 129.31 to 163.03 mg.L-1 .
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The value NOEC 33 days of product, SODIUM SULFIDE SOLUTION was 1.3 mg/L.
Not be considered as toxic for fish species
