Description of key information
In accordance with the Column 2 adaptation of Annex VIII Standard information requirements, it is considered justified to omit the activated sludge respiration inhibition test (required under point 9.1.4) on the basis that there are mitigating factors indicating that microbial toxicity is unlikely to occur. A study conducted to assess the ready biodegradability of the substance included a toxicity control vessel in which the test material was present at a nominal concentration of 13.4 mg/L. the results of this study showed that the substance showed no inhibitory effects on the sewage micro-organisms present in the test system. Furthermore, it is considered that due to a low water solubility and high partition coefficient, the target substance will be removed by primary treatment and exposure to microorganisms would be extremely limited.
