- Remarks on result:
- no self ignition observed under the test conditions
- Conclusions:
- In the present study conducted according to VDI 2263, sheet 1, the self ignition of the test item was investigated using the Grewer oven. The pure test item Triammonium citrate indicated no self-heating at atmospheric pressure up to the maximum test temperature of 408 °C. On the basis to the results of the tests on the self-ignition in the Grewer oven the test item is classified as follows:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as self-heating substance in class 4, division 4.2 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS I CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11: The test item does not have to be classified as self-heating substance according to GHS/CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11, respectively. - Executive summary:

Reference
In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer oven for the pure test item an endothermic process was detected starting at a temperature of approx. 110 °C, which can be assigned to a partially melting of the test item. No further thermal effects could be observed up to the maximum test temperature of 408 °C. After the measurement a black residue remained in the wire basket.
For the test item in mixture with Kieselguhr an endothermic process was detected starting at a temperature of approx. 150 °C. Starting at a temperature of approx. 270 °C an exothermic effect was observed that led to a maximum temperature of approx. 440 °C (corresponding oven temperature 380°C). After the measurement a grey residue remained in the wire basket.
