From around 145°C a small endotherm was recorded, followed by unstable baseline, but there was not a sharp boiling point. As the signal is endo, this is not either unambiguous decomposition.


According to a literature search this is attributed to the partial evaporation of the molten compound with the formation of carbonaceous residue (Nascimento., A.L.C.S et al., 2017. Thermal behaviour of glycolic acid, sodium glycolate and its compounds with some bivalent transition metal ions in the solid state. J. Therm Anal. Calorim (2017) 130:1463-1472).

Conclusions:
From around 145°C the test item showed ambiguous degradation.
