Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
Henry's law constant
Type of information:
(Q)SAR
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
results derived from a valid (Q)SAR model and falling into its applicability domain, with limited documentation / justification
Principles of method if other than guideline:
QSAR: ratio of solubility and vapour pressure.
Key result
H:
0 atm m³/mol
Conclusions:
Lactic acid is unlikely to volatilize from water according to the Henry's Law Constant of 1.13*10^-7 atm m^3 mol^-1.
Executive summary:

The Henry's law constant of lactic acid was estimated with EPISuite, as the quotient of its vapour pressure and its aqueous solubility. Since lactic acid is miscible with water, this is in fact an overestimation of its propensity to evaporate from water.

Description of key information

Lactic acid is unlikely to volatilize from water according to the Henry's Law Constant of 1.13*10-7 atm m3 mol-1.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Henry's law constant (H) (in Pa m³/mol):
0
