Only two weeks left to register for the Second Lead Registrant Workshop

The European Chemicals Agency organises its second workshop for lead registrants preparing for the 2013 REACH registration deadline. The workshop takes place from 11 to 12 October 2012 in Helsinki. Invitations and a link to register for the workshop are sent by ECHA directly to all lead registrants who have notified the Agency of their role using the lead registrant notification webform.

ECHA launches a public consultation on 54 potential Substances of Very High Concern

The public consultation will be open for 45 days and will end on 18 October 2012. Interested parties can post their comments on the ECHA website. The European Commission has requested ECHA to prepare Annex XV dossiers for 37 substances on their behalf. Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom have also put forward proposals for the identification of 17 substances. Amongst the substances, 44 are proposed to be identified as SVHCs on the basis of their classifications as carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or toxic for reproduction (REACH Article 57(a–c)). One of these substances is also suggested as being of equivalent concern in accordance with Article 57(f) based on its endocrine disrupting properties.

ECHA announces two new webinars open for all – A series of webinars on bringing registration dossiers in compliance with REACH and a webinar on substance evaluation

The first of the new webinar series provides feedback to registrants on how to submit information on chemical substances in the technical dossier to ECHA, in compliance with REACH. The second webinar gives an overview of the purpose of substance evaluation under REACH and its practical implementation. It covers important recommendations for registrants on how to cooperate with ECHA and the evaluating Member States if their substance is selected for substance evaluation.
