Reminder to submit substance in article (SiA) notifications by 20 December 2013

ECHA reminds companies that the deadline for the substance in article (SiA) notifications for six substances added to the Candidate List in June 2013 is fast approaching. Importers and producers are invited to verify if their articles meet the conditions for the notification obligation in Article 7 of the REACH Regulation. The notification can be easily submitted either through a dedicated webform or through REACH-IT using IUCLID. The notification is mandatory for all articles containing the substances currently included in the Candidate List if the conditions for the notification obligation are met.

New Working Groups for Biocides

The Biocidal Products Committee has established six Working Groups, which will support the preparation of the opinions and contribute to the harmonisation of risk assessment under the Biocidal Products Regulation.

There are four permanent Working Groups focusing on the following topics: efficacy, analytical methods and physico-chemical properties, human health, and environment. Additionally, two Ad hoc Working Groups will work on human exposure and the assessment of residue transfer to food. The Working Groups will start their work in January 2014.
