EU Commission: Last call for companies to register chemicals

The European Commission reminds companies that they must register the most widely used or most dangerous chemicals by the deadline of 30 November this year, less than 12 weeks from now. Registration is one of the milestones of REACH, the EU Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. Companies are also reminded that they must notify the Classification and Labelling of their chemicals to European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by 3 January next year. So far about 4,000 REACH registration dossiers and 180,000 CLP notifications have been submitted to ECHA.

ECHA and EU-OSHA support trade unions' campaign on the REACH and CLP deadlines

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Chemical Workers' Federation (EMCEF) alert their members to act as REACH and CLP ambassadors in companies. ETUC and EMCEF are convinced of the importance of the new chemical laws – REACH and Classification, Labelling & Packaging (CLP) – this is the reason why they are calling on their member organizations to alert employers to their responsibilities through a new campaign.
