Most hazardous and most common chemicals registered

By the REACH deadline of 30 November 2010, 24,675 registration dossiers have been successfully submitted for 4,300 substances including nearly 3,400 phase-in substances. The final number of registrations and substances, including a breakdown of ‘phase-in' and ‘non phase-in' will be available when all submitted dossiers have been processed in the coming weeks. ECHA's website will regularly update the numbers of phase-in registrations and registered phase-in substances.

REACH amendment enters into force on 1 December 2010

The Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation foresaw a number of amendments to the REACH Regulation which take place on 1 December 2010, immediately after the first registration deadline. They will in particular impact on the information required for registering substances.

ECHA closed three DCG web forms relating to certain exceptional situations. Other DCG web forms are relevant for registrants even after the deadline and will thus remain open

Charges for companies wrongly registering as SMEs

From 1 December 2010, ECHA will collect an administrative charge from registrants who wrongly claimed to be entitled to a fee reduction or a fee waiver. If ECHA concludes that the size of a company is larger than registered under REACH, the company will not only have to pay the difference in registration fee but also an administrative charge.

REACH FAQ Update 3.2.1 – Substances in Stock
The outcome of the discussions regarding substances in stock held between the Commission, ECHA and the National Competent Authorities for REACH and CLP has been incorporated in the amending version of the existing FAQ 6.3.12. Manufacturers, importers, suppliers, downstream users and distributors should take note of this amended FAQ since it better clarifies their obligations under REACH
