Weekly update of Active Lead Registrants

The role of the Lead Registrant is laid down by the REACH Regulation and is mandatory for each SIEF.

Please note that as of 17 February 2010, ECHA will publish on a weekly basis the list of EC numbers, substance names and whether the Lead Registrant has been appointed or retains candidate status. In addition the earliest expected registration deadline that has been communicated to ECHA by LRs will also be published.

Lead Registrants and Candidate Lead Registrants who are active in their SIEFs are advised to inform ECHA of their nominations by using the link below: Lead Registrant Nomination

As the situation evolves within each SIEF, ECHA recommends that entries be regularly updated (e.g. confirmation of registration deadlines, update of SIEF membership numbers etc).

N.B. Where information has been provided by a Candidate Lead Registrant this is indicated with a "yes" in the column "Registrant Is Candidate" of the attached table (in .pdf or .xml format). In cases where the cell is left blank, it can be assumed that the information has been submitted by a Lead Registrant.

This list reproduces the information filled in by Lead Registrants in the webform. ECHA does not endorse or reject Lead Registrant nominations. ECHA holds no responsibility for, neither can it guarantee the accuracy or validity of, the information contained in the list. ECHA has not (nor will it) edit the content provided.

As the name suggests, SIEFs are there to ensure that data is shared. Keep that in mind as you work in your SIEF.

This web section gives a brief overview of the critical information on SIEFs and how to prepare for registration under REACH. It also provides links to the most important guidance and other support documents published by ECHA.

The highlights

Companies that have pre-registered a substance with a 2010 registration deadline will find short summary of getting active in a SIEF.

Pre-registration

Basic information about pre-registration for companies entitled to make “late” pre-registrations is here. The arrow buttons above “Further information” heading will allow you to navigate easily between the pre-registration steps.

Pre-SIEF

The concept of pre-SIEFs was not foreseen in the REACH Regulation, but was introduced, with support from industry, to bring pre-registrants together and facilitate SIEF formation. This page provides information on how REACH-IT allows a pre-registrant to see who else has pre-registered the “same” substance.

More

SIEF Formation

The transition from pre-SIEFs to SIEFs happens outside REACH-IT and the responsibility lies with companies. A SIEF is formed when companies have agreed that their substance is the same. General best practice is provided on this page.

More

SIEF Duties

SIEFs consist of companies that pre-registered substances with the same chemical identity, and other organisations that have indicated they own data on the substance. The duties of participants in SIEFs are explained here.

More

Lead Registrant

The Lead Registrant (LR) is a mandatory role in a SIEF, although REACH does not specify the rules for their election. This page explains the duties and commitments of the Lead Registrant, acting with the agreement of the other assenting registrants.

More

Registration

When potential registrants in a SIEF have shared and assessed the available data, the LR prepares the common parts of their registration dossier, the so-called joint submission. This page provides information on how the joint registration is to be prepared and jointly submitted.
