Trader in very hazardous chemicals

Do you import chemicals that are banned or severely restricted in the EU?

These could be industrial chemicals, plant protection products or biocides imported in the form of substances, mixtures or articles. In this case, you may need to comply with the requirements of the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation.

If so, you need to:

  • Make sure that the import is allowed in accordance with the relevant legislation (e.g. REACH, the Biocidal Product Regulation, The Plant Protection Products Regulation, national law, etc)
  • Report on the imported quantities to the relevant authority in the EU

Check if your chemical is covered in the Chemicals subject to PIC section.

Do you also export outside the European Union?

If any of your industrial chemicals, plant protection products or biocides are banned or severely restricted in the EU, you are most likely subject to the requirements of the PIC Regulation. This means that you have to notify ECH about their export (either as substances or mixtures/articles) and in some cases to also obtain the prior informed consent (PIC) of the importing country.

Check if your chemical is covered in the Chemicals subject to PIC section.
