Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with copious quantities of water for at least 15 minutes holding lids apart to ensure flushing of the entire surface. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Drink plenty of water. Rinse mouth with water. Seek medical attention. If possible drink milk afterwards.

Inhalation: May cause irritation to the respiratory tract and mucous membranes. If breathed in, remove from exposure and move the person to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

General Fire Hazards: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.

Hazardous Combustion Products: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions: Hydrogen fluoride gas (HF), Magnesium oxide (MgO).

Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Fire Fighting Equipment/Instructions: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Accidental release measures

Containment Procedures: Do not let product enter drains. Avoid dust formation. Isolate spill area and ensure adequate ventilation.

Clean-up Procedures: Sweep up or vacuum up spill using a high efficiency particulate absolute (HEPA) air filters and place in a closed container for proper disposal. Avoid dust formation.

Evacuation Procedures: No data available.

Special Procedures: Wear appropriate respiratory and protective equipment. Avoid dust formation and breathing dust. Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas. Isolate spill area and ensure adequate ventilation. Maintain eyewash capable of sustained flushing, safety drench shower and facilities for washing.

Handling and storage

Handling Procedures:  Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Do not breathe dust. Do not breathe vapours or spray mist. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust and aerosols are formed. Implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain concentration of exposure at low levels. Use good housekeeping and sanitation practices.

Storage Procedures: Store in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control of dermal exposure: Handle with gloves. The selected protective gloves must satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Gloves should be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique to avoid skin contact. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands after use.

Control of inhalation exposure: Wear appropriate respiratory and protective equipment when needed in areas of high dustiness. Use in areas with suitable exhaust ventilation and engineering controls that maintain the possibility of exposure at low levels. Avoid dust formation and breathing dust. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards.

General: Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Control of environmental exposure: Do not let product enter drains.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical Stability: Stable under ordinary conditions of storage.

Conditions to Avoid: Avoid dispersion of dust in air. Keep away from heat, sparks, or open flame. Avoid contact with acids and oxidising agents.

Incompatibility: Strong oxidizing agents, Strong acids.

Hazardous Decomposition: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions. Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions are: Hydrogen fluoride (HF), Magnesium oxide (MgO)

Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.

Disposal considerations

Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company. Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.
